ISOBATA
Italian Southern Ocean Bathymetry
in the Antarctic region
ISOBatA

ISOBatA:

ISOBatA had been designed to take advantage of transit time of the R/V Laura Bassi in the Antarctic region to acquire seafloor datasets.

ISOBatA obtained 5 days times as vessel speed reduction during transits and rerouting.

ISOBatA is a PNRA (Italian National Research Antarctic Program) funded Project.

Project aims:

Resources Optimization

Resources Optimization to maximize bathymetric data coverage in the Southern Ocean (IBCSO and Seabed2030)

Case study area

Case study area (i.e., the Macquarie Triple Junction in the SW Pacific Ocean): to demonstrate the potential of data acquisition during transit time in remote areas.

International collaboration

International collaboration and support from IBCSO and Seabed2030.

Antarctic Data Repository

Antarctic Data Repository: data and metadata are store in an ad-hoc designed data repository.
